North Korea photos reveal hidden details of Missile program

Photos could reveal new rockets and more advanced technology, experts claim. North Korea's Kim called for more solid-fuel rockets engines to be built, state media said.

On Wednesday, North Korea state media KCNA announced leader Kim Jong Un had visited the country's Chemical Material Institute of Defense Science.

"He instructed the institute to produce more solid-fuel rockets engines and rocket warhead tips by further expanding engine production process," the statement said.

But it was the photos of the inspection released by state media which missile analysts sized upon immediately.

As you can see the image above:
  1. Chart apparently showing a new rocket named "Pukguksong-3." Experts says unlike to be ICBM.
  2. Inspirational quotes from North Korea leader Kim Jong Un.
  3. Diagram which appears to show another new, three-stage missile, named Hwasong-13. Details unclear.

North Korea's desire to build solid-fuel missile is driven by their need for projectiles they can launch quickly and subtly, said Michael Duitsmanm, also a research associate at the Jame Martin Center.

In another, the North Korea leader stands next to a large copper-colored container, which experts said could be a wound-filament reinforced plastic rocket casing.

"It's not a missile test but its still very disconcerting for people who look at the North Korean ballistic missile program," Duitsman.

"Seeing the casing... Is sooner than I expected."
Bot experts said the wound-filament casing seen in one photo would be lighter than previous metal versions, allowing North Korea's missiles to fly further.
